Jane’s Journey
Jane Mayhew MacHale, Editor, The Call Do you ever just wonder “why here, why now”? Things don’t always go well in the art world, then suddenly, the skies open up, the angels sing, and at least for the moment, things click. Draw a big red circle around this moment. You are HERE. It doesn’t mean suddenly, sales are universally up, patrons and artists line up at the door, or we have so many volunteers that we need to make up new projects to keep everyone busy, it simply means there is a shift that many feel, perhaps initially, in a spiritual sense, before anything can be measured physically. Since the Fine Arts arm of PCFTA was created, so many doors have opened. The energy it creates cannot be denied, even if it gets tedious at times.
My personal favorite project, if I must choose, has been Cool Cats of Delaware Water Gap. The online auction is about to begin, with the countdown the our Saturday, September 13th 2025 event, which will allow artists, patrons, cat fans, and the curious, to gather at Sycamore Grill in DWG to have a lovely afternoon pre-fixed afternoon buffet luncheon from 2 – 4pm, meet new friends, take a chance on some really nice raffle gifts from the practical to pampering, and of course, see all 15+ cat statues on display in Sycamore Grill’s Event Room. Anyone can bid on the cats online, (The opening of the online auction and Fundraiser details will be announced very soon!) but those present can have the advantage to see details of the artists’ handiwork, place final bids, & be part of the festivities! Stay tuned for ticket info!
This is an important first official fundraiser we are having for PCFTA, & we need you all to attend, bid, and support, to allow us to put our best paw forward! Artists will collect 70% of winning bids, with 30% going to PCFTA.
Three cat rescues, Animals Can’t Talk, Ozzie’s Angels, and SOS Pet Rescue, also benefited with donations made from the initial artist fees. Artists, thank you! It was the greatest honor & joy to present each organization with their donation, and know it goes far in these unprecedented times with epidemic numbers of cats in need!
Stay tuned for many events to follow. We are planning next year now, and will hold a space for any of you artists, and everyone who answers “The Call.” Do you hear it?
